Better off. Or worse off?

Find out what the 28 October UK Budget means for your wallet. Enter a few details to see an estimated net impact — and exactly which decisions drive it.

01

Your household

Support and energy
Electricity only, not gas. A £50 reduction in the annualised price cap is not £50 cash saved over the three-month VAT extension.
02

Work and earnings

Wage changes
Used to estimate tax on extra pay and small-trading income. National Insurance is estimated separately for wage increases. Check your own tax band; thresholds and Scottish rates can make the result differ.
03

Travel

Fuel & buses
The 5p-per-litre duty cut is extended until 1 July 2027.
England, outside London, participating services.
An illustrative comparison with your old fare (often £3), not a guaranteed saving relative to what operators would otherwise charge.
04

Savings, property & side income

Tax changes
*Lower-income savers may have the starting rate and unused personal allowance; see notes.
After allowable expenses and any applicable property allowance. Tax on property profits rises by another 2 percentage points from April 2027 (England/Wales/NI).
Use this only for trading income on which you elect the flat trading allowance rather than deducting actual expenses.
05

One-off situations

Property purchase
Only eligible property purchases above the LISA price cap. Withdrawal fee drops from 25% to 20% from 29 October 2026. The charge for other unauthorised withdrawals stays 25%.
